INXEBA (THE WOUND) (free screening/lecture in collaboration with Vanderbilt's Department of African American & Diaspora Studies course)
In collaboration with the Vanderbilt University course, Insider/Outsider: The Genealogy of Black LGBTQ Peoples, the Belcourt hosts three course sessions paired with film screenings. Each screening and post-screening course discussion is open and free to the public — and all screenings are at the Belcourt. No reservations or tickets are required, but seating is available on a first come, first served basis.

INXEBA (THE WOUND):
Xolani, a lonely factory worker, joins the men of his community in the mountains of the Eastern Cape to initiate a group of teenage boys into manhood. When a defiant initiate from the city discovers his best kept secret, Xolani’s entire existence begins to unravel.

Insider/Outsider is led by Claudine Taaffe and Terrance Dean and is part of Vanderbilt’s African American & Diaspora Studies. The course is an intensive and interdisciplinary engagement with the history, culture and politics of Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer communities during the 20th and 21st centuries.

No reservations or tickets are required, but seating is available on a first come, first served basis.
