General Admission: Free (with ticket from any Abbas Kiarostami: A Retrospective film)
Prior to the 9:00pm screening of Abbas Kiarostami’s WHERE IS THE FRIEND’S HOUSE?, Nashville filmmakers Jace Freeman and Sean Clark will discuss their film BARACOA (2019). BARACOA was adapted from a short film, Pezcal, that Freeman made with Argentian filmmaker Pablo Briones under Kiarostami’s guidance at a 2016 workshop in Cuba.
Freeman will share his experience working with Kiarostami, and he and Clark will discuss their attraction to making films that blend fiction with reality. They’ll also screen Pezcal and a clip from BARACOA.
BARACOA, co-directed by Freeman, Clark and Briones, recently played at the Nashville Film Festival following screenings at the Berlin International Film Festival, Copenhagen International Documentary Festival, Festival de Málaga, and Sheffield Doc Festival.
The event, held in the upstairs Jackson Education and Engagement Space, is free with a ticket stub from any film in Abbas Kiarostami: A Retrospective. Seating is first-come, first-serve.
