MISTER AMERICA

MISTER AMERICA

A freshman filmmaker follows Tim Heidecker during the final month of his campaign for district attorney. What begins as a profile of an outsider candidate facing an uphill battle devolves into a study of toxic delusion as Tim’s motivations and controversial past begin to unravel his candidacy. Taking on a popular incumbent, Tim and his inexperienced campaign manager are outmatched. Low on funds, experience and connections, Tim hits the streets to connect with voters, but has difficulty winning over the community. Former associates try to warn the public with stories of bad business deals, strained friendships, and a failed court case in which the novice candidate found himself accused of murder. With days until the election and his campaign in free-fall, Tim confronts the unexpected costs of pursuing his dream.

“...Blurring real and fake while tracing Heidecker’s political run for District Attorney of San Bernardino...the result looks like something bridging the sensibility of BORAT and A FACE IN THE CROWD, but mostly, it’s uniquely Heidecker, who is seemingly operating in peak form.” —Winston Cook-Wilson, Spin

“The film follows Tim Heidecker's [eponymous] On Cinema character…an egotistical, Trump-supporting, overbearing jerk who's reeling from a murder trial from the toxic vapes at his DIY EDM festival…Because this is a Tim Heidecker movie, things don't go very smoothly.” —Josh Terry, Vice

“Tim Heidecker, one of the brilliantly silly minds behind Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, is coming out with a new political mockumentary… Just the thing to help you through election fatigue.” —Jude Dry, IndieWire
