    THE OUTSIDERS

Dir. Francis Ford Coppola, USA, 1983, 91 min., PG-13, 16mm, In the Belcourt parking lot

Part of Second Saturday Outdoor Cinema.

“We’ll do it for Johnny.” Francis Ford Coppola's coming-of-age drama chronicles the escalating violence between two teenage gangs in rural Oklahoma, which intensifies when the affluent Socs attack two young Greasers (C. Thomas Howell and Ralph Macchio). The film helped launched the careers of stars Matt Dillon, Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze, Emilio Estevez and Tom Cruise. Look out for Tom Waits too.

Note: THE OUTSIDERS will be presented in an Academy ratio 16mm print. All Second Saturday Outdoor Cinema screenings are FREE and take place in the Belcourt's parking lot. Bring your own chair and/or blanket. We kick off just after dusk with a hodgepodge of fun shorts, kitsch commercials and serials of yesteryear, followed by the feature film.
