THE BLUES BROTHERS

Part of SNL Cinematic Universe and Music City Mondays

All Screenings: Pre-recorded introduction from SNL cast member and Belcourt member James Austin Johnson

“It’s 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark…and we’re wearing sunglasses.” Jake and Elwood Blues (John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd) are on a mission from God — in order to save the orphanage that raised them, they enlist the help of their former band. Sprung from a SNL skit, written by Aykroyd and director John Landis (see also: THREE AMIGOS!) — and cast to the gills with R&B legends, including James Brown, Aretha Franklin, John Lee Hooker, Ray Charles (to name just a few) — THE BLUES BROTHERS also features cameos and comedic turns from the likes of Carrie Fisher, John Candy and Frank Oz, along with perhaps the greatest car jump in cinema history. A stone classic.
