YOU GOT GOLD: A CELEBRATION OF JOHN PRINE

Part of Music City Mondays and Nashville: A City on Film

YOU GOT GOLD: A CELEBRATION OF JOHN PRINE captures a star-studded tribute to the legendary songwriter, filmed in October 2022 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. The event brought together acclaimed artists, friends and family to share behind-the-scenes stories and perform classic songs, honoring Prine’s enduring legacy. Prine, widely celebrated as one of history’s greatest songwriters, captivated millions of fans and earned the admiration of icons such as Bonnie Raitt, Brandi Carlile, Tyler Childers, Lucinda Williams, Dwight Yoakam, Jason Isbell and Bob Weir, amongst many others — all featured in the film performing on the Ryman stage for this special celebration of his life and music.

“There is arguably no post-World War II songwriter who penned sadder tunes than John Prine. And there are arguably few songwriters who have penned funnier tunes than John Prine. His body of work constitutes a stand-alone Great American Songbook.” —Glenn Kenny, New York Times

“The best thing to do with John’s songs is to let your voice live inside of them. A simpler way to put it is “sing ‘em like you mean ‘em.” Every single artist at the Ryman in Nashville, the night of the filming, does precisely that.” —David Phillips, The Contending

“I don’t really think there’s a better way to pay tribute to one of the greatest and most under-the-radar songwriters of all time than by letting the music speak for itself. That’s pretty much what Prine would have wanted, any fan knows.” —Don R. Lewis, Hammer to Nail
