While the Oscar-Nominated Short Films are not officially rated, the following guidances summarizes content and topics in this year’s shorts — and suggests what their rating equivalence would be.
The Animated Shorts verge on R ratings. This is not a family-friendly program, with topics that include the Holocaust, inferred child sexual abuse, and violent battle scenes.
The Live Action Shorts content has a R rated equivalency, with topics include murder, abortion, sexual abuse, and suicide.
The Documentary Shorts has a PG/PG-13 rated equivalency, with topics include aging, friendship, economic inequality, Taiwanese independence, and book bans.
