Restoration Roundup

Restoration Roundup

Year in and year out — with or without a pandemic — the work to digitally preserve the films of the past continues unabated by studios and archives both large and small. While restorations appear in our programming throughout the year, the effort to highlight this work has heretofore been a longstanding and dedicated yearly series. Yet our last Restoration Roundup — scheduled to kick off Mar 25, 2020 — was not meant to be and, quite frankly, this modest summation of only recently-released efforts barely scratches the surface of what we missed in the Years Between, including a few from the recent Sight and Sound poll.

As such, we’re thrilled to resurrect not only this series, but also our Staff Picks series this month with one such film, and we’ll be co-opting our weekly Music City Mondays program in order to get a few more in as well. A number of restorations also appear in Beloved: A Spotlight Series on Black Female Directors, the series that follows this one.
