Working as a stripper to make ends meet, Destiny’s (Constance Wu) life changes forever when she becomes friends with Ramona (Jennifer Lopez) — the club’s top money earner. Ramona soon shows Destiny how to finagle her way around the wealthy Wall Street clientele who frequent the club. But when the 2008 economic collapse cuts into their profits, the gals and two other dancers devise a daring scheme to take their lives back. Inspired by a New York magazine article entitled “The Hustlers at Scores” written by Jessica Pressler, this recent cult favorite follows the crew of savvy dancers as they band together to turn the tables on their wealthy clientele.
“A lean, fierce take on the nature of female empowerment in an inherently corrupted world.” —Clarisse Loughrey, Independent (UK) “This is a deeply feminist film, one where men are given less screen time than the cameoing Cardi B and Lizzo.” —Helen O’Hara, Time Out “While the characters in most crime films are threaded together through cultural ties, HUSTLERS is much more concerned with the strength of motherhood and sisterhood.” —Jourdain Searles, Bitch Media “An immediate entrant into the pantheon of female friendship movies, HUSTLERS — a pretty much perfect film — makes plain the hollowness of so many other iterations of girl power in studio projects. You can feel its heart beat.” —Inkoo Kang, Slate
