PEE-WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE

Part of A Tribute to Paul Reubens

When Pee-wee Herman’s idyllic world is destroyed by the theft of his fire-engine red bicycle, the eccentric child-like man sets out on a manic cross-country odyssey to recover his most valued possession. Director Tim Burton makes his feature-film debut with this comic masterpiece. Co-starring Mark Holton as Francis, Elizabeth Daily as the peppy mechanic Dottie, Large Marge, Jan Hooks and the Alamo.

Programmer’s Note: PEE-WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE plays back-to-back showtimes with BIG TOP PEE-WEE on Tue, Sep 12 only.

“This is the movie that, rightfully, catapulted both Tim Burton and Paul Reubens (aka Pee-wee Herman) into the superstar arena… The perversely comic charms of the director and star shine among the guffaws.” —Marjorie Baumgarten, Austin Chronicle

“Everything about PEE-WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE, from its toy-box colors to its superb, hyperanimated Danny Elfman score to the butch-waxed hairdo and wooden-puppet walk of its star and mastermind, Pee-wee Herman, is pure pleasure.” —Stephanie Zacharek, Salon
