CHARLIE’S ANGELS

Part of Action Distraction

Stemming from the ‘70s action-comedy series, CHARLIE’S ANGELS catches up with Dylan (Drew Barrymore), Alex (Lucy Liu) and Natalie (Cameron Diaz) — a tantalizing trifecta of crimefighters who work for the billionaire Charlie Townsend. Their boss keeps the agents equipped with the sleekest and sexiest spyware on the market, but their main liaison is John Bosely (Bill Murray), their faithful sidekick.  The Angels’ latest mission is to capture the cunning genius Erik Nox (Sam Rockewell), a software engineer up to very nefarious deeds in the tech world.

The explosive world of espionage is full of Bonds and Bournes — but CHARLIE’S ANGELS is a refreshing cast of butt-kicking ladies who bring high class to crime-fighting cinema.

“Was it just another vehicle for male sexual fantasies? Or did it subtly subvert those tropes, providing a rare example of female empowerment and friendship in one sleek, action-packed blockbuster package? Honestly, I’d say both. The impact of CHARLIE’S ANGELS on young women growing up in the late ‘90s and early aughts cannot be overstated.” —Anne Cohen, Refinery 29

These Angels don't use guns. They take on bad guys with their wits and their feet…. The Angels have so much fun that it's impossible not to enjoy them. The fight scenes were staged by the same person who did THE MATRIX, and the Angels get a huge charge out of their suspended-air kicks and chops.” —Nell Minow, Common Sense Media

“Forget the daintiness of the TV show. The movie has powered up. The women are essentially James Bondettes, poised and ready to thwart the latest outbreak of villainy threatening humankind.” —Desson Howe, Washington Post (Nov 3, 2000)
