Following a year that was once again filled with the passing of some of cinema’s greats, no other figure ascended the ranks of later-20th-century icons — with a career both in front of and behind the camera, and with a legacy that may outlive all of us. Robert Redford passed in September 2025, leaving behind not just a sizable and impressive filmography. Arguably, his greatest contribution to the longevity of independent film, and perhaps film itself, was the Sundance Film Festival — which unspools this month for the final time in its home of Park City, UT before a move to Boulder, CO. In honor of these bittersweet occasions, we offer these 10 films.
