A BETTER TOMORROW II

Part of Golden Princess Hong Kong Cinema Classics

Completed within a year of the release of A BETTER TOMORROW, this wildly entertaining sequel finds an imprisoned Ho (Lung Ti) initially refusing to go undercover to bust the gang he used to work for in exchange for his release — but only accepts after learning that his estranged little brother, policeman Kit (Leslie Cheung), is working on the case. Meanwhile in New York, restauranteur Ken Gor (Chow Yun-fat), the twin brother of Mark from the first film, shelters the boss of the gang, who has fled after being taken over by a more aggressive boss. Teaming up again, director John Woo and producer Tsui Hark brought all of the flash and fun of the first film, but their disagreements led to Hark directing the prequel A BETTER TOMORROW III — and Woo moving on to make THE KILLER, and ultimately retooling his screenplay for the third film into BULLET IN THE HEAD.

Principal Cast: Leslie Cheung, Chow Yun-fat, Lung Ti, Dean Shek, Shan Kwan
