A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2: FREDDY’S REVENGE

Part of Shocktober

Freddy’s back in this most homoerotic of sequels…. Get on the bus!

The Walsh family, including their teenage son Jesse (Mark Patton), moves into a house on Elm Street which has been vacant for some time. Hardly surprising, since it was the same house in which the first A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET took place. Ron starts having strange nightmares and finds that Freddy Kruger is using him to commit terrible deeds. It’s up to his girlfriend to find some way of stopping Freddy.

Over the past decade, the initially critically maligned film has been reevaluated as a queer camp masterpiece thanks in part to 2019’s essential SCREAM, QUEEN! MY NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET documentary about FREDDY’S REVENGE lead Mark Patton.

“As stomach-turning as might be expected, but it has a lot going for it: clever special effects, a good leading performance and a villain so chatty he practically makes this a human-interest story.” —Janet Maslin, New York Times (Nov 1, 1985)
