Thirty-five years after its release, COMING TO AMERICA remains the most notorious Black rom-com to date. In the fictional African nation of Zamunda, Crown Prince Akeem Joffer (Eddie Murphy) grows weary of his pampered lifestyle and wishes to do more for himself. When his parents, King Jaffe (Earl Jones) and Queen Aoleon, present him with an arranged bride-to-be on his 21st birthday, Akeem takes action. Seeking an independent lifestyle, Akeem and his best friend/personal aide, Semmi, travel to New York City in hopes of finding true love. The duo quickly find that life in Queens may not be the fairytale love story they imagined it to be.
