NATURAL BORN KILLERS

Part of Weekend Classics: Lovers on the Lam and Music City Mondays

A pointed and darkly humorous look at the American public’s fascination with violence, director Oliver Stone’s gonzo road movie stars Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis as Mickey and Mallory, two lovers/serial killers whose bloody cross-country crime spree and the ensuing sensationalized media frenzy makes them into glorified folk heroes. With Robert Downey Jr. As the host of a tabloid TV show, Tommy Lee Jones as a crazed warden, and Rodney Dangerfield as Mallory’s abusive father.

Stone’s assaultive editing and multivarious visual style is mirrored in the first feature film soundtrack produced by Nine Inch Nails’ (and Academy Award winner) Trent Reznor and further supported by a neck-breakingly diverse tracklist comprised of songs by Leonard Cohen, Cowboy Junkies, L7, Patti Smith, Peter Gabriel, Nine Inch Nails, Dr. Dre, Bob Dylan, Rage Against the Machine, Duane Eddy and Tha Dogg Pound among others.

“Berserk from the outset, NATURAL BORN KILLERS lunges for our collective viscera in its opening sequence (surely one of the most brilliant establishing sequences of all time) and never lets go for the next two hours.” —Marjorie Baumgarten, Austin Chronicle

“Don't miss this and its brilliance on so many different levels; filmmaking, acting, directing, editing, soundtrack and of course the whole twisted backbone of the thing -— Quentin Tarantino's script.” —Emily Blunt
