Following a year again filled with the passing of some of cinema’s greats, no other figure ascended the ranks of later-20th-century icons with a career both in front of and behind the camera — and with a legacy that may outlive us all. Robert Redford passed in September 2025, leaving behind much more than just his sizable and impressive filmography. Arguably, his greatest contribution to independent filmmaking, and perhaps film itself, was the Sundance Film Festival — which unspools this month for the final time in its longtime home of Park City, UT before a move to Boulder, CO. In honor of these bittersweet occasions, we offer these 10 films.
