At the heart of Steven Spielberg’s new film lie familiar themes: the splintering of, and perhaps — or perhaps not — the re-mending of the family unit. It would take an entire career of mining personal experience for drama and the grandeur of the big screen before he’d just come out and say it outright with THE FABELMANS, a film that itself is no small feat. Frankly, we haven’t the time to get to all of them, but we’ve gotten to most. Bracketing our Thanksgiving opening of THE FABELMANS are six such films to enjoy — or not — with the family unit of your choosing.
