A new restoration of one of our favorite paranoid classics, Francis Ford Coppola’s THE CONVERSATION, was as good an excuse as any to screen this survey of surveillance-themed cinema. Featuring a veritable history lesson on the evolution of pre-internet voyeurism, we kick things off with a series introduction from Sarah Igo, author of The Known Citizen: A History of Privacy in Modern America followed by a screening of a 35mm print of the godfather of police procedurals, M, from director Fritz Lang.
