Years after a tragic shooting, the parents of both the victim and the perpetrator meet face-to-face. MASS screened as part of our Sundance satellite venue screenings back in January, and we’re thrilled to bring it back for proper indoor screenings.

A Swiss private banker arrives in Buenos Aires with his wife to replace a mysteriously missing colleague and placate their moneyed clientele. Moving through the smoke-filled lounges and lush gardens of a society under intense surveillance, he finds himself untangling a sinister web of colonialism and high finance.

Leo and María — played by writer-director Amalia Ulman and her real-life mother, Ale — are constantly transacting deals, large and small, in order to scrape by. EL PLANETA is a delightful and slyly dark breakthrough for multidisciplinary artist Ulman, whose film reminds us that every day, every gesture in our contemporary world is a performance.

This 92-minute theatrical program of seven short films selected from the 2021 Sundance Film Festival program includes fiction, documentary and animation from around the world. The 2021 program offers new audiences a taste of what the Festival offers and shows that short films transcend traditional storytelling.
